The Pick

Curated by The Juicy Times
Elsewhere

Wed Jul 8 · Elsewhere

Vivian Girls

Vivian Girls bring their lo-fi noise-pop swagger to Elsewhere's main room, and there's something perfect about their fuzzy, feedback-laden guitar work echoing through a Bushwick warehouse built for exactly this kind of sonic chaos. The trio's got that rare gift of making you feel like you're eavesdropping on something precious and unpolished, the kind of show that reminds you why you fell in love with indie rock in the first place.

Silence Please

Wed Jul 8 · Silence Please

Mind Cargo presents Ezeta & Mr. Murray

Here's my editorial note: Mr. Murray's bringing four turntables to Silence Please's whisper-perfect room for some phasic blending that'll hit different on speakers built for depth rather than decibels, while Ezeta closes it out with live cello and vocals over hardware, exactly the kind of intimate experimental night this Bowery listening room was made for. At ten bucks with a crowd small enough to actually hear each other breathe, this is the opposite of a venue flex; it's sound design for people who actually care about sound.

Elsewhere

Thu Jul 9 · Elsewhere

Support Women DJs: JIALING, NURAKAI, PAULYD33

Three women DJs spinning across Elsewhere's maze of rooms, JIALING, NURAKAI, and PAULYD33 each bringing their own energy to the warehouse's multiple floors and rooftop. At eighteen bucks, this is a steal for a night that actually puts female talent front and center in a scene that desperately needs it.

Thu Jul 9 · Refuge

Refuge Thursday's: The Drop with Tasha Blank & Friends

Tasha Blank's bringing her crew to Refuge's legendary Thursday night, and that four-stack sound system they've got down there was literally built for nights like this, expect the kind of electronic music that hits differently when you can feel it in your sternum. It's a smaller gathering (just 2 of you so far), which honestly means better sightlines and room to actually move around one of Williamsburg's most serious dancefloors.

Public Records

Thu Jul 9 · Public Records

Play Time, Ezra Feinberg

Ezra Feinberg's bringing their restless electronic palette to Public Records' top-floor room, and honestly, watching someone work through their sound in a space this deliberately built for listening feels like catching lightning in a bottle. The Gowanus spot's three-level setup means you can drift between the rare vinyl downstairs and whatever hypnotic thing Feinberg's cooking up above, making this one of those nights where the venue architecture actually matters to the experience.
