“celebrate the 125th anniversary of louis armstrong with the american symphony orchestra jazz ensemble in a free outdoor concert at the bronx music hall plaza. experience a curated selection of armstrong’s rarely performed works, brought to life by an outstanding lineup of new york jazz musicians. in case of rain, the concert will occur in the bronx music hall’s theater.”

“at the heart of ‘pastel’ is a hands-on installation: a massive pit filled with pastel-colored beads, all connected to hendry’s signature visual world. beloved characters such as juju and balloon dog are at play with the artist’s distinctive flowers and smiley faces. visitors are invited to reach in and create their own collection to string on a bracelet, necklace, or charm — a participatory experience that extends hendry’s long-standing commitment to her audience in real-time. drawings and editions of iconic imagery will also be on view, alongside her trademark swag including caps, t-shirts, jewelry trunks, leather trays, and acrylic keyrings.”

“the festival takes place over two days at meadow lake in flushing meadows corona park, site of the 1964 world’s fair in queens, ny. races start at 9 a.m. and continue through the early evening each day. in addition to the dragon boat races, there are activities for the entire family such as the main stage featuring live musical performances, martial arts demonstrations, the arts & crafts area, or the international food court where you can find food and snacks.”
